Background of the Study
Political instability is a key factor that affects political participation in many countries, and Nigeria is no exception. In regions affected by insecurity, such as Damaturu, Yobe State, women often face additional challenges in participating in governance and political activities. This study aims to examine the effect of political instability on women’s political involvement, focusing on how such instability hinders or influences their participation in governance at the local government level in Damaturu.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Political instability, including insecurity, violence, and conflicts, often leads to a reduction in political participation, particularly among women who may be more vulnerable. In Damaturu, where political instability has been prevalent, women’s involvement in governance may be significantly constrained. This study investigates how political instability in Damaturu has impacted women’s participation in governance, especially at the local government level.

The study will focus on the effects of political instability on women’s participation in governance within Damaturu, Yobe State. Data will be collected from women in leadership roles, civil society organizations, and political observers in Damaturu. Limitations may include challenges in accessing data from certain areas due to security concerns.
